Receipt scanning

Prepare receipt expenses for review before saving.

Pludo Ledger can use optional AI to prepare expense details from a receipt image. It is designed to reduce manual typing, not to make an unreviewed financial record for you.

What the receipt scanner prepares

Attach a receipt image and ask Plu to prepare details such as the merchant, line items, amount, date, and a suggested category. You can inspect those details in the workspace before deciding what to save.

A receipt scanner is not a guarantee that every field is correct. Images can be unclear, merchants can format receipts differently, and AI can make mistakes. Check the result against the original receipt, especially totals, taxes, dates, and categories.

Review is part of the workflow

01

Keep or change each detail

Edit the merchant, account, category, amount, date, notes, and prepared line items before saving.

02

Use manual entry instead

You can create the same expense manually whenever you do not want to attach a receipt or use AI.

03

Check the record afterwards

Open the saved transaction in the manual workspace and correct it if the receipt or category needs another review.

03

Know what is sent for AI processing

Receipt scanning is optional and needs a network connection. When you use it, the receipt image, your prompt, and relevant context are sent for that request to Pludo Ledger’s authenticated AI service.

Do not attach a receipt you do not want that service to process. If you prefer to keep records local, leave AI disabled and enter the expense manually.

Review a receipt on your terms.

Open Ledger to prepare receipt details with AI or enter the expense manually.
